From Personal Awareness to Global Mission
Despite growing up in Tirunelveli, a city deemed as the ‘Oxford of South India,’ with one the nation’s best institutions, Anita witnessed stark educational disparities within her own community. This early contrast between opportunity and inequality became the driving force behind everything she would later build.
"I grew up seeing people who did not have education or who were not given an opportunity," Anita recalls in the interview. That awareness planted a question that would shape her entire career: How do you scale opportunity?
Learning to Build Bridges
As a first-generation immigrant in the US, Anita developed her greatest leadership asset: the ability to bridge different worlds.
"That [being multicultural] gave me the strength to bridge gaps between teams, between markets, and between what is and what could be."
This skill would prove essential when she decided to use her technological and leadership experience to "educate the world" rather than starting a traditional school or nonprofit, as technology aided her ambition of faster and scalable impact for all.
Educational Revelation
Edrevel transforms mountains of PDFs and legacy courses into personalized learning experiences within minutes. The results? Organizations like Britannia upskilling 3.5 times faster, turning 10-week training into 20-day programs, and government agencies testing 800 students simultaneously in just three weeks.
Currently serving over 1 million learners globally, Anita draws parallels to how cloud computing democratized technology: "AI is bringing vast amounts of computing power and knowledge to common people, and we are helping deliver that in the field of education."
From Representation to Global Impact
The journey culminated with Anita as part of a historic White House delegation to Riyadh, representing South Asian entrepreneurship on the global stage. As she reflects in the interview, it was validation of building real partnerships aligned with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
That moment came full circle as recognition that AI-powered learning can shape tomorrow's leaders, but those leaders come from all backgrounds all around the world." - Anita Selwyn
The Vision Ahead
Anita's goal is ambitious: Impacting 100 million lives while building "the backbone of workforce development for the modern world." But her vision extends beyond business metrics to systemic change, particularly creating civic awareness in marginalized communities.
For emerging leaders, especially South Asian women, her advice is powerful: "Do not be afraid to say that you are bilingual. Do not be afraid to say that you are multicultural. That is your strength."
